TN : Castelgiocondo 2003, Brunello Di Montalcino, Marchesi De Frescobaldi, Tuscany, Italy


This wine is 100% Sangiovese. All of the grapes for this wine were handharvested during the last week of September and the first week of October 2003. The yield was 35 hectolitres per hectare.



Alcoholic fermentation took twelve days in stainless steel vats at a temperature of less than 30 degrees. The length of the maceration was 32 days. The wine was matured in Slavonian oak casks and French oak barrels.



This wine was rated three out of five stars by Decanter magazine and 90 points by Wine Spectator.



This wine was purchased as part of a three bottle case of the 2003, 2004, and 2005 vintages of Castelgiocondo from Finnair in-flight duty free on the Hong Kong to Helsinki route for 98 Euro.

Aroma : Blackcurrants, plums, wood, coffee

Taste : Wood, fruity, blackcurrant, plums, coffee, cherries, chalky tannic finish

Alcohol : 13.5%
