Clairault Wines was established in 1976. Clairault was named after a nearby cape that bears its name from the French Mathematician Alexis Clairault (1713-1765). Alexis Clairault was responsible for calculating the perihelion of Hailey's comet.
The wine is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc. The wine was sealed with a screwcap.
