I have been reading and listening a lot recently and a theme that is forever cropping up is wines reflecting their
terroir. What does this mean ? In my opinion, no wine made today reflects it
terroir. All vines are manipulated by man. Why not simply let the vines grow they way they want to instead of managing their canopies and training them. What about irrigation ? If wines from California or Australia, for instance, reflected their
terroir then the bottles would be empty. Simply put, vines that reflect their
terroir in these hot climates just die.
